WISH Well

Super exciting announcement!! We are planning our inaugural WISH Well conference on Saturday 5/16/2020 in Houston, TX. WISH Well stands for Women's Integrative Summit on Health and Wellness. I was inspired after my workshop on Integrative Medicine @elastiqueathletics last month, and thought, wouldn't it be nice to have several speakers and workshops related to health and wellness, just for women? And I remembered that Women's Health Week is the week after Mother's Day, so I planned it to coincide with Women's Health Week to celebrate all the amazing women in our community. I reached out to some friends to help plan it (of course, Emeline with @elastiqueathletics, and my dear friend Heather @drhealthercolmenter). We are so excited to share more details with you in the upcoming weeks and release pre-sale tickets very, very soon. We have lined up some VERY inspiring speakers and workshop leaders, and absolutely cannot wait to share with you soon.

Why did I decide to plan a conference without ANY prior experience with event planning, much less a workshop for the community? If you didn't get a chance to listen to my podcast recording on The Job Search - take a listen (drop me a comment and let me know what you thought!!) you may find at the end of the podcast that I speak about all the things that I do in terms of integrative medicine, coaching, fitness, etc. All of the things that I do to give back brings me so much joy and fulfillment and while it may seem like a lot, it gives me a feeling of balance. So back to planning this conference -- I was sitting at the Elastique Athletics atelier one Thursday evening last month talking about health and wellness to a room of about 15 women. It wasn't just me sitting up there giving a lecture. It was all of us engaged in a lively discussion about what health and wellness meant to each and every one of us. That night on the way home, I couldn't stop thinking about all that positive energy. It felt like a buzzing sensation in my chest and I felt such a strong urge to do SOMETHING.

The next morning I was driving to work, and the name WISH Well just came to me. I remembered Women's Health Week was coming up, and googled the exact date. And I texted Emeline literally while I was parked in my car about to go to into work. She texted back immediately an excited Memoji. I told her I would brainstorm a bit and see what we can come up with. And that very night, my dear friend from residency and beyond, Heather, called me to talk to me about jobs after fellowship, and I immediately asked her if she wanted to be involved as well. It was as if the universe, or God was directing me to find my purpose. It's baby steps, but I am so so grateful for all the friends who have guided me along the way and am so so excited to be posting and sharing my journey. I'll definitely be writing a lot more on here as I navigate through this and hope you come along for the ride!
